Today

The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree: Andrea, Alessandro, and Alberto have inherited their parents’ passion for work, and each of them has their own role in the hotel. After studying in Milan and Rimini, Andrea handles the administrative side, reception, and bar. Alessandro, passionate about cooking since childhood, is in charge of the restaurant. Alberto, still very young, promises to become the future ski instructor for Belvedere’s guests. Today, they are all involved in the family business, striving every day with dedication and perseverance to pursue the goals that have always characterized their predecessors, starting from their grandparents Anita and Arino: offering the best vacation experience to guests who choose San Martino di Castrozza and the Hotel Belvedere.

From the five Lucian sisters to the three Soffiati brothers, the unity and strength of the family have always ensured Belvedere the future it deserves. Many new challenges and projects await the third generation!

2000s

The desire for renewal seems destined to never fade, seeking to adapt the structure to the demands of its guests: in 2005, a wellness center with a pool is built, and in 2021, coinciding with the centenary of the Hotel Belvedere – during the pandemic – the western part of the second floor is renovated, making room for comfortable and modern Elegance rooms.

1990s

After the expansion works are completed, a new period of change begins for the Hotel Belvedere: Marcello meets Monica, a young university student from Rimini who comes to Belvedere in search of a summer job. Between them, an intense love at first sight blossoms, leading them to marry in 1991 and to give birth to three lively brothers: Andrea, Alessandro, and Alberto. As the family grows, Marco decides to pursue new paths abroad: from this moment on, Belvedere will be in the hands of the newlyweds. Soon, new investments are initiated, from the main entrance to the renovation of the entire ground floor and first floor, which, with the arrival of the 2000s, will also involve the two upper floors. Step by step, the Hotel Belvedere begins to take shape as we know it today.

1980s

With The arrival of the brothers Marco and Marcello, there comes the energy to tackle new investments. The Soffiati family, still under the guidance of Anita and Arino, decides to further enhance the recently renovated dining room, completely modernize the entire first floor of the hotel, and add a second floor of rooms above the dining room. During these years, San Martino di Castrozza is a well-known destination, and the management of the Hotel Belvedere is particularly appreciated by its guests. The two twins, who have effectively taken the reins of management, decide to increase the number of beds: in 1987, two more floors are added to the west wing of the structure, reaching the three floors that we still see today.

1970s

From the marriage between Arino and Anita, three children were born: Dory and the twins Marco and Marcello. The three Soffiati siblings grew up together in San Martino di Castrozza, between the hotel reception and the meadows near home, and from an early age, they were accustomed to taking care of the guests who came to the resort for their holidays.

A few years later, Dory left the beloved family hotel to marry an even more beloved Venetian doctor – of course, known at the Belvedere – with whom she moved and started a beautiful family in Treviso.

In 1975, the twins, after attending the prestigious hotel school in Stresa, began working full-time in the family structure, combining the professionalism acquired in school with the passion for hospitality passed down through the family.

In the meantime, the roof of the Hotel Belvedere had been renovated after the flood, and during the same period, it was decided to renew the front balconies and the dining room.

1960s

In 1963, Anita and Arino decided to take over the entire structure previously managed together with the Lucian sisters, who had meanwhile embarked on different paths outside of the Belvedere. In the early 1960s, the hotel’s roof, still part of the original construction, began to show the first signs of collapse.

Renovation was urgently needed, but in 1966, in the midst of the works, a terrible flood struck the Primiero Valley. The roof was not completed, and the heavy rain caused significant damage inside the structure. Adding insult to injury, the flood cut off the road to Fiera di Primiero for weeks, making it impossible to recover the materials needed to repair the damage. Arino was therefore forced to recycle the old beams just removed from the old floors to complete the work and reopen the hotel to the public as soon as possible.

1950s

A few years later, while the five sisters diligently divided the tasks within the hotel, Arino Soffiati, an employee of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Belgium, came into play. Arino decided to travel to San Martino di Castrozza for some time in search of tranquility and fresh air to try to resolve some health issues. Departing from Belgium, on the advice of the local tourist office, he happened to stay at the Hotel Belvedere and met Anita. He fell in love not only with her but also with the enchanting landscape, and in 1953, the new couple decided to get married.

1920s

Hotel Belvedere was born in 1921 from the dream and ambition of the well-known entrepreneur Primierotto Giovanni Lucian. Riding the wave of the growing tourist phenomenon in San Martino di Castrozza, he decided to build a hotel to leave to his beloved five daughters Anita, Dorina, Olga, Piera, and Mary. In 1929, after an initial phase where the hotel was managed by an external operator, it returned to the Lucian family’s hands. They carried out a significant expansion, including the creation of a separate dining room with a beautiful view of the Pale di San Martino.
